Low Cost Solution-Avoid Obsolesence

Spirit Aeronautics has teamed up with Honeywell Aerospace to provide 6.1 software upgrades for the Flight Management Systems.

According to Honeywell SIL D201604000032 Rev. 9, Honeywell will end NavDb updates after September 30^th, 2022, for all version of NZ FMS prior to NZ 6.1 used on aircraft that have a certified path to upgrade to NZ 6.1.

If you operate an aircraft for which an STC / OEM SB exists that allows you to upgrade to NZ 6.1 and you have not yet upgraded to NZ 6.1 by September 30^th, NavDb updates will no longer be made available to you even if your current NavDb subscription extends beyond September 30^th.

This is a permanent discontinuation of support of NZ FMS prior to version 6.1, and we are asking for your help with getting your aircraft upgraded as soon as possible.

Depending on the FMS configuration, the upgrade may be (1) software-only or (2) hardware and software.

• For the software-only upgrades, the upgrade is relatively easy and fast, and we will impose a hard cut-off date after September 30^th
• For the hardware and software upgrades, which may take longer to complete due to hardware lead-times, Honeywell will consider extending NavDb updates beyond September 30^th but ONLY if you have placed a PO with a Honeywell dealer prior to September 30^th

We are bringing this to your attention now for several reasons including we hope to avoid a last-minute rush in September. Today’s supply chain challenges will make it extremely difficult if not impossible to get large numbers of aircraft converted in the final month of service.
